“Sadistic” and “Disturbed”- ‘Outlander’ Fans Describe Black Jack Randall in One Word
Outlander fans were asked via Facebook and Twitter to describe Black Jack Randall in one word and none of those gathered were of the kind variety. With fans using choice words like “dastardly,” “damaged,” and “vile” to describe the character, there is no love lost for Outlander’s villain.

Fans were asked to complete a similar exercise last month to describe they story’s heroine and that compilation of traits is much more favorable with “timeless,” “resilient,” “gutsy,” and even “lucky” being thrown into the mix.

‘Outlander’ Will More Than Likely Get a Second Season
From January 10th 2014

I saw a tweet today saying that Starz CEO Chris Albrecht had already given Black Sails a second season before the first episode had even aired. I asked in a tweet if we Outlanders could go ahead and get a second season as well.

Well, it looks like that will probably happen according to a new article on Deadline that talks with Albrecht about Outlander after the TCA presentation today. Brace yourself . . .

“Here is more good news for them: Sony TV-produced Outlander, currently in production on its 16-episode freshman season, will do at least one more. “I would be shocked if we didn’t do the second book,” Starz CEO Chris Albrecht told me after the Scotland-set show’s session at TCA that featured writer and showrunner Ron Moore in a kilt. It is not only the enormous and enormously passionate fan base of the books, though that is not lost on Starz brass. Albrecht said he is very high on the early footage he has seen and didn’t spare praise for Battlestar Galacticadeveloper/executive producer Moore’s skills as a top-notch writer and producer.”

“‘You want a show that really makes a difference,’ he said. The exec believes that good serialized dramas need time to reach their potential, which explains his willingness to hand freshman series a second season, but if he feels a show won’t go to the next level, he doesn’t have much trepidation about pulling the plug.”

Diana Gabaldon Finally Meets Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe
Back in January, Diana finally got to see Jamie and Clare in the flesh ...

This has been a crazy day, and I am sure tomorrow will be even crazier. Here is a short, but sweet, account by herself (Diana Gabaldon) meeting Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe for the first time in the flesh. How cool is it to meet the people that are bringing your characters to life?! I can’t imagine what it will be like when she gets to set.

“Yes, I have met Sam. And Caitriona. Sam and I were assigned to share a car from the hotel to the Starz dinner last night, and I’d gone outside to see if either car or gent was there–neither was, so I was headed back toward the lobby when I saw him coming out.

“Well, there’s a familiar face,” I said, he said, “Diana!” and we embraced under the hanging Chihuly glass sculptures overhead. “Tell you what,” I said. “I won’t tell anyone what you smell like, if you don’t tell anyone what I smell like.” (a few of the more intense fans having asked me to report.) This being agreed, we found our car and went off to dinner, chatting amiably en route.

Caitriona arrived at the dinner a few minutes after we did, and an adroit Starz publicist photographed the actual meeting–in which I appear to be engulfing her in my cape ala Dracula. Absolutely lovely, and very witty. (Cait, I mean.)

[For those of you thinking Sam is not tall...I'm wearing three inch heels, here. Caitriona's wearing _four_ inch heels.]

Anyway, had a lovely evening with all of the Starz people, who included a number of great execs and Very Capable publicists, as well as directors and actors from “Black Sails” and “Da Vinci’s Demons,” two other Starz original series being featured at this weekend’s TCA (Television Critics Association) event.”

It has been quite some months since I've posted any sort of news here .. scarily, I missed the email to say renew the domain or lose it .. went to visit the site and it was gone .. NOT a great feeling. So I best get back to paying attention.

There has been SOOO many things I've missed in my time away and a heap of news here that is old of course, but ... I'm going to take a step back in time and do a little catch up over the next few days.

Script

In this photo from Caitriona’s Instagram, we see she is working on her first script since returning to Scotland. It is an episode called “The Reckoning” and it is written by Matthew B. Roberts. There is a chapter in Outlander called “Reckonings” and it is chapter 22. Are they both about the same thing?
